Corporate R&D investment by country of headquarters (EU Scoreboard)
R&D investment, sales, capital expenditure, profits and employment of the world's largest corporate R&D investors, totalled by the country each company is headquartered in.
Definitions and method
IMPORTANT: this is not a country's business R&D. A company is counted in the country where it is headquartered, not where the research is performed, so a multinational's global R&D lands entirely on one country. It is not comparable to BERD or to Frascati-based official statistics. Only additive quantities are summed - euro amounts, employees and the company count. Growth rates and intensities are not averaged across companies, because the mean of a ratio is not the ratio of the sums; R&D intensity is recomputed from the summed R&D and the summed sales.
