1. What this service is
Mondo collects international economic statistics from public providers, normalises them into a single database, and makes them available through this website and one public API. Access is free and requires an account so that we can record which licence terms you accepted.
2. The data is not all under the same licence
Each dataset carries the licence of its original provider. Some permit commercial reuse, some do not; some permit redistribution, some do not. The licence that applies to a dataset is stated on its page, in the API response, and in the header of every CSV you download. When you download or query data, you are bound by that licence, not by our preferences.
You declare an intended use on your account, and again when you accept a licence. If a licence does not permit that use, the platform will not serve you the data. Misrepresenting your intended use is a breach of these terms.
3. Attribution
Where a licence requires attribution, the required text is provided with the data. Reusing the data without that attribution breaches the provider licence directly, not only these terms.
4. Accuracy and fitness
We reproduce upstream figures and record when we retrieved them. We do not warrant that the data is accurate, complete or current, and we are not the statistical authority for any of it. Revisions happen: each load is versioned, and the retrieval timestamp travels with the data. Do not use this service where an error would cause harm without verifying against the original provider.
5. API use
API keys are personal to your account. Rate limits and monthly quotas apply and are visible on your account page. Do not share keys, do not attempt to circumvent limits, and do not use the API to reconstruct and redistribute datasets whose licence forbids redistribution.
6. Suspension
We may suspend an account or a key that breaches these terms, threatens the availability of the service, or is used to redistribute data in violation of a provider licence.
7. Our own material
Indicators we compute ourselves, along with the site text and code, are released under the licence stated on the relevant page. Derived indicators remain subject to the licences of their inputs.
8. Law and forum
These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and the courts of the district of Montreal have jurisdiction. That follows the rest of the arrangement rather than being chosen for advantage: the platform is operated from Quebec, the servers are in Montreal, and the person answerable for it works there.
Two things in this section still need a lawyer, and naming them is more useful than a blanket clause. Quebec consumer-protection rules and the equivalent rules in EU member states can override a governing-law choice for individuals, so this clause binds less than it appears to where you live. And the limitation-of-liability wording permitted here differs from what is permitted in the EU, which is a question about what may be written rather than about what is intended.
