Definitions and method

Compiled by the World Bank in World Development Indicators from official national and international sources, listed against each indicator by the World Bank. Some series come from third parties, so their own terms may apply beyond the World Bank's CC BY 4.0: check the source named for the indicator before redistributing. Sources in this set include: Low Elevation Coastal Zone (LECZ) Urban-Rural Population and Land Area Estimates, Version 3, Center For International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) - Columbi; Protected Planet: The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) and World Database on Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (WD-OECM), UN Environment Programme; International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); World Urbanization Prospects, United Nations (UN); CUNY Institute for Demographic Research (CIDR) - City University of New York.
